Creative Writing Rubric & Other Creative Writing Resources Published!

As we collectively work to help our students write creatively this year, we thought an aligned creative writing rubric might help our efforts.  We created this rubric by keeping our same convention/ word-choice standards from argumentative writing and thinking about the sorts of messages that great poets and story-tellers convey.

Like everything we do in writing, two principles hold true with creative writing:

  1.  The best way to build your and your students’ vision of a writing project is to READ & ANALYZE exemplary text first!
  2.  This rubric isn’t definitive!  If (when!) you adapt it for a project, send your project to Sarah.Franzen@teachforamerica.org so we can upload your thinking in order to expand all of our thinking.
